You may have heard of people talking about having the X factor, that sometimes intangible quality that makes any one person stand out amongst the crowd? Well, although in Real Estate there is no X factor competition, it’s vital that ‘success’ factors are present within any sales agent.
Success factors or characteristics can vary from agent to agent and its how these characteristics are used that will determine the overall success and professionalism of the agent. Drive has to be one of the most important elements to success because without it, it would simply be too easy to hang up the towel and go into a different line of work, especially in the current climate where the real estate profession is experiencing difficulties as a result of the financial climate. Having drive means never, ever giving up even when the road ahead looks rocky.
Do you commit fully to your goals? Whether they are set business goals or self-imposed goals to take your career forward, it’s important to throw yourself into achieving them and to do so with confidence. It takes courage to take this approach but having an abundance of courage will enable you to push forward that much more.
Knowledge is great but do you feel like you have stopped learning? Determine to take a new approach and learn new aspects of the business, expanding your interest and soaking up any facts like a sponge can help you to approach your career with renewed vigour. Real estate like any other profession has to move with the times so don’t get left behind, embrace new processes and technology that may make your job more efficient. Honesty might not sound like a quality that a sales person should typically have in abundance but when it comes to your clients, you need them to trust your advice so it is honesty all the way. There is no point handing out false-truths as it will come back at you eventually.
If your enthusiasm and optimism has waned lately because your house sales have plummeted, don’t despair, you can kick-start those feelings again, you just need a little time out to establish why you are experiencing these feelings and to prepare a new schedule and objectives. It’s all about resetting your targets and assigning new goal posts to aim at. Are you generally chatty and do you find it easy to build rapport with potential clients? Communication is a fantastic skill-set to have and will usually enable you to talk your way into snapping up that lucrative house sale. It’s important to sound and feel genuine when with your clients however and this is where natural enthusiasm is a real winner. Fake rapport is very obvious, especially when you talk to expired leads.
Tap into your dynamic energy. If you feel that it’s your time to start being successful then open up your mindset and take heed of the law of attraction. Don’t rest on your laurels though; the law of attraction only works when you work hard to make things happen too. If you know that you deserve to do well, believe in your own abilities and let success become second nature. Don’t forget to retain your sense of humour throughout the daily grind, real estate work is tough. Some days sales possibilities will fall into your lap but at other times, you might make mistakes or the sale goes to someone else. Remember to smile about it. Life sometimes is tough; the business world itself is tough. By retaining a strong sense of humour you will be able to laugh at yourself and to pick yourself back up. Laughter and resolution works hand in hand.
There are no easy steps to success. As a real estate agent, you need to tap into all of your success characteristics if you are going to beat off the competition. The most attractive approach is an enthusiastic one but having the resilience to keep going is vital. Know what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it. If you can adopt and expand these all-important success factors for your own and make them individual to you, you will live and breathe success in all areas of your life.
