It’s an environment that is pressured, demanding and exacting but it’s how you tackle those challenges that will make the biggest difference to your success.
If you ask anyone in the business, they will say it’s tough and this is because you are responsible for your own success. If you fail, you fail because you have done something wrong. If you are working for a company, then any teething problems will be cushioned by the regular income and support from the business and your colleagues but many real estate agents are self employed.
It can be lonely, it can be hard facing rejections and failures and there is no doubt that it can be stressful. Importantly, it takes a certain type of individual to make it work. Whilst all of the above is true, it is often how you look at those challenges that can make such a difference because actually, real estate can offer you an exciting, challenging and rewarding career.
You get the joy of managing your own time. You get to meet dynamic and interesting others and
you also get to share the pressures with others who have a finger in the real estate pie too. Real estate doesn’t have to be lonely. You can be successful and popular. You can reach out and help those newer into the business, the way others reached out to you. Have you considered that you are part of something that is really wonderful? You help people to make decisions that really do change their lives. You have a job that is filled with the wow factor.
Of course you need to learn the industry and of course, that’s a lot of knowledge to absorb and to incorporate into your daily life but, if you want to know the real secret to real estate and in fact, to any business success. It’s passion.
If you have a passion for the industry, it will make you get up
in the morning, it will make you get out there and knock on doors, it will make you reach out to others and to network morning noon and night and your passion will make you work long hours for the greater goal because you love your job and you are going to make it a success.
Let’s be honest, if you only want a 9-5 job, then the real estate industry may not be the one for you. If you want a career that can make you proud and can help you to grow as a person and in a business sense then real estate could be just what you are looking for. If you like hard work, have good communication skills, enjoy meeting people and can problem solve then this type of work might be ideal. Whilst it might not be for the faint-hearted, there is no doubt that as your learning curve accelerates your ability to manage day to day tasks and to get out there and to seek new opportunities in the business will grow massively.
There are not many careers that can offer you so much in terms of opportunity but really, success depends on how you face each and every challenge. If you can live and breathe real estate, learn from the best, and create opportunities for yourself, you could be sitting pretty for years to come.
